The pier contains Pacific Park, a family amusement park with a large Ferris wheel. It also has a carousel from the 1920s, an aquarium, shops, entertainers, an arcade, a pub, and restaurants. At the end of the pier, anglers may pursue their hobby. During the summer months, a free Thursday Twilight Dance Series is held. Free open-air film screenings occur from early August to late September. The Pier Film Series began in July 2003 with screenings of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Grease. The next two years had ten screenings each summer on Tuesday nights, with screenings continuing into the Summer 2008 season.

If you have a chance, you should go there!!!

The Getty Center

The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in Los Angeles houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and European and American photographs.

I had a chance to go to an art museum, when I have been in Los Angeles for a week. The museum is called "The Getty Center" which is located on the top on a mountain. I took a tram-- an horizontal elevator--to move up to the entry of the museum. While I was sitting in the tramp, I could see marvelous scenery during the route. I saw stylish villeges on other hills. When I arrived at the front of the museum, I had to take footsteps to come into the museum. There are many beautiful sculptures I saw in front of the museum.

Shamu!!!

CUTE WHALE: Shamu!!

When I went to San Diego, I visited Sea World and I was impressed by Shamu Show. It is so cute . Trainers at Sea World can control Shamu on its back. I felt very excited when they rode Shamu.
This is the information about Shamu!!

Shamu is the name of SeaWorld's iconic killer whale. Shamu performs along with Baby Shamu and Grandbaby Shamu in 7-million-gallon pools at SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Diego, Calif., and San Antonio, Texas. Killer whales perform in Shamu Stadium, which seats 5,500. The Shamu show is the most popular show at SeaWorld, running 20 minutes and showing as many as six times a day. The highlight of the performance is the spectacular natural behaviors of killer whales and the unique relationships that SeaWorld trainers have with these animals. According to the official SeaWorld website, people sitting in the first 14 rows "must be prepared to get soaked" by water that is chilled to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
The name "Shamu" is actually a stage name shared by many adult killer whales at SeaWorld. The first Shamu, a female, was captured in Puget Sound in 1965 and died on August 23, 1971. The first Baby Shamu, born on September 26, 1985 and named Kalina, was the first-ever baby killer whale to thrive in captivity. (Ten killer whale calves had been born in captivity before 1985, but five were stillborn and the others all died within two months of their births.) The first Grandbaby Shamu, a male known as Keet, was born in February 1993 and the first Great Grandbaby Shamu, a female named Kalia, was born in late December 2004. A fourth generation is expected in 2006.
SeaWorld has trademarked the names Shamu, Namu, and Kandu.
